Why did Safeway raise its price by $15?

Safeway is pleased to have added online behind-the-wheel scheduling through Schedule2Drive. We began using the program in March 2008 and have found it to be very successful. Our customers are now able to enjoy 24/7 scheduling and access to lesson information. The cost of using this program is $8.00 per student. For the convenience of our customers, we have chosen to incorporate this price into our package cost rather than having each student pay $8.00 to Schedule2Drive at the time they schedule their first lesson.

The rest of the price increase is due to increased fuel costs. Many other schools have a "fuel surcharge" in their service agreements. Rather than try to collect a fuel surcharge at each behind-the-wheel lesson,  we include all fuel costs in our package price. We have held off raising our price until we knew the fuel costs were not going to go back down.  It is now necessary to raise our price by $7.00 per student to cover part of additional fuel costs.

Safeway has not raised its prices for two years. We try to keep our costs down while offering a high level of customer service and maintaining a staff of qualified instructors. We work very hard to offer a quality, reliable driver's education program to the communities we serve.
